ASK FOR THE NATIONS
When Jesus ascended to the Father and sat down at His right hand, He entered into the place of intercession for us, the church. This became the foundation for our victory. Jesus, right now at this moment is pleading our cause to the Father. We face an undaunting task of reaching the remaining 30% on earth who have not heard the gospel. This is almost two billion people. Most of these unreached people groups are in remote villages and out of way places that are difficult to reach. Many of them are hostile to the gospel in countries like Afghanistan which has 48,000 mosques but not one church of any kind!
How do we know this unfinished task will get done? God has recently encouraged me with two mighty references in the bible. Just this last week as I was praying over the nations, God reminded me of Psalms 2:8, the Father is actually asking the Son to intercede for us with a very particular request, "Ask of me (says the Father to the Son) and I will give you the heathen as your inheritance and the uttermost parts of the earth as your possession". The success of the "great commission" is not based on modern technology, the wise schemes of men, or even our passion for the harvest. IT IS BASED ON JESUS REQUEST TO THE FATHER!! Trust me, Jesus has responded to the Father's request. The answer is even given in the former verse 7. Jesus says, "I will proclaim the decree of the Lord". It has already been decreed that Jesus shall reign over every kingdom on this earth. Nothing shall stop it. Kings cannot stop it. Satan cannot stop it. Evil devices of man cannot stop it! The gospel will prevail in every nation. I am convinced that the reason president Bush has gone to war against terrorism in countries like Afghanistan and Pakistan and Iraq is that God intended American, English and other Christian nation troops to bring God's presence into those countries. The very presence of God has invaded the land in the form of military personnel who know Jesus Christ, who pray daily in those countries, who do good deeds of kindness to the people of those lands. This has paved the way for other armies of Christian workers to come along behind the military. I am not even sure President Bush understands completely his solid resolve to enter those lands, but God's purpose will be accomplished, even if it takes a war against terrorism. This is not a political war it is a fulfillment of the divine purposes of opening every nation to the gospel.
The second Scripture that I must share with you in addition to Psa. 2:8, is Rev. Rev 7:9-10
"After this I looked and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and in front of the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: 'Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.'"
The apostle John saw the completed revelation! This can only happen if the unfinished task of taking the gospel of the kingdom to every person is fulfilled. Believe me, it will be fulfilled. God has decreed it, Jesus is presently interceding for it, the word of God declares it, and we will help do it! That is what Action Evangelism is all about. Responding to the very heart of God and the cry of the Son of God. How exciting it is to be a part of this great calling. We live in the day of God's great purposes on earth. Jesus said, in John 14:12, "If you believe, the works that I do, you shall do also, AND GREATER WORKS THAN THESE SHALL YE DO BECAUSE I GO TO MY FATHER". Could it be that the reason we are going to do greater works is because He is right now interceding for us with all power and authority? God bless you as you take this great harvest... we have an awesome power behind us.
